Blairadam Forestry Trails Blairadam Forest is a wonderful place for a forest walk with a number of waymarked trails through the landscaped woodlands. There are 3 main trails; Keltyhill Glen Trail (1.0km), The Glen Trail (2.8km) and Blairenbathie Mine Trail (4.0km). This area historically was a coal mining area and you can still see remnants of old buildings in the woods now completely covered with shrubs and trees. As you enter the forest you will see a totem pole and some interesting art work on a brick wall. We did the 4km yellow circular trail or Blairenbathie Mine Trail and then added on a small loop on the red trail or Glen Trail to take us down along the Kelty Burn. William Adam, the noted Scottish architect, built Blairadam House here in the 1730s and landscaped the surrounding estate. He was also a shrewd businessman, planting trees for timber and extracting coal from the seams that ran through his land. Amongst the lofty trees and tumbling burns you will see plenty of evidence of these mining works which have now been reclaimed by the forest. The trees were bare at this time of year but many were completely covered in thick green moss. https://highlanderimagesphotography.com/2020/01/18/blairadam-forestry-trails/ #Blairadam #forest #forestry #walk #trek #trekking #trail #historical #industrial #highlanderimages #Canon5D #Canon5DMkIV #CaptureOnePro #discoverearth #earthpics #earthpix #fantastic_earth #theglobalwanderer #places_wow #scenicview #photography #global_hotshotz #awesome_earthpix #awesomeearth
