In 10th grade, I had a project where I had to ask a family member a series of questions about their perspective of me. I ended up choosing my mom and so I asked her, “If you could rename me now, what would you name me?” She thought about it for a moment, and she said “Joy.” Thirteen years later, that response still moves me. I hope to be an embodiment of joy through times of celebration and hardship. I hope to bring life and love and acceptance to those around me so they can be free to be wholly themselves. I hope to be Joy.
Love you mama @legacylisat 💕
