I see people sometimes say I wish it was the 60's or 80's, so I could do things like this or dress like that. This and that tend to be dressing up in pin up styles, listening to disco, or going on aesthetically pleasing dates, etc. Much of the past was not a good time for marginalized communities though, so why don't we just live how we want to live now, and continue to move forward? Other than the potential internal struggle of "fitting in" that it may cause, you can dress in pin up styles. You can find deep disco events, and aesthetic diners. You can wear a three piece suit everyday if that's what you wish, but we can do all this without wishing for the past to come back. This is not to say I believe anyone's truly offended by these sayings, but rather that if part of living your best life includes harmless aesthetics from the past you should be able to do that regardless of what year it is currently.
